The warmer weather is just around the corner, we’re nearly there. Look forward to a new season with a spring bucket list!
It feels like we’ve been indoors long enough. Keeping warm and busy indoors was fun while it lasted, but if you’re anything like me, you’re looking forward to the warmer weather and spending your days outdoors- with the exception of rainy days ahead.
Spring is a very metaphoric season. After a cold and long season, dark days, and mundane routines, Spring brings growth, newness, and colour. The days become longer and feel brighter. We may find we have similar seasons in our lives (that may not actually align with the weathering seasons) where we are coming out of long, dry, challenging periods of our lives. Let’s appreciate what each season in life and our environment brings.
Spring into a season of growth, new life, and fresh air with these bucket list activities for the coming months.
1. Create your own flower arrangments
Buying or receiving a bouquet of flowers often brightens the day itself. Why not try arranging your own flower arrangements to make your ideal bouquet, customized with your favourite flowers? Make a day out of it by grabbing a few friends, heading to your local flower shop, and crafting your bouquets together.
2. Host a brunch
Brunch is for all seasons in my opinion. It will be on all my bucket lists- however, change it up from season to season with differing themes. This spring, why not host an Easter brunch with your closest friends?
3. Start your garden
Starting your garden can vary depending on the weather where you live but Spring is a great time to start planning and preparing your garden for the season. Seed planting may need extra time to bloom for seeds to be sown into the soil.
4. Start a book club
With Spring comes much rain. Rainy days are much needed and appreciated (mainly indoors in my opinion). Host a book club this season. Get together frequently to host your friends, enjoy some good food and company, and chat about your favourite parts of your recent read. This also gives you a cozy and quiet activity to enjoy on those rainy days to catch up on your readings before your next book club gathering.
5. Dance (or run) in the rain
Some of us like to appreciate the rain from the outside which I’ve enjoyed a handful of times. Go out and enjoy the feeling of being in the rain. I once got caught in the rain while I was on a run. This certainly gave me more motivation to pick up the pace on my way back home but it was an exhilarating experience racing in the rain.
6. Go for a hike
Explore the outdoors with the warmer weather. Going on walks and hikes is one of my favourite pastimes no matter the weather, but I do tend to enjoy it much more when the sun is out. Try new trails near you to explore your region.
7. Host a Spring cleaning
When the snow starts to melt, it starts to reveal what was buried underneath, which is often garbage. With Earth Day falling in April, rally your neighbours together to clean up your neighbourhood this Spring. Keep your community clean for the benefit of the children, the pets, and for the wildlife.
8. Reflect on the first quarter of the year
Spring is a reminder that the first quarter of the year has already passed- time flies! Reflect on your year so far. Like the snow melting and revealing what the snow had buried, reflecting and evaluating your year so far can do the same. What areas have you done well in? Where can you improve? Have you sustained your goals and habits? Take some time to set your intentions for the second quarter of the year.
9. Go bird watching
As the weather warms up, the birds begin to migrate back home. Set out to watch the birds return at key migration points near you.
10. Try new recipes
Try new recipes this Spring! Whether dinner recipes or baking treats, Spring calls for fresh ingredients. Try incorporating more salads into your meals and zesty fruits in your desserts.
11. Start your day with fresh air
While the weather warms up, catch the sunrise and start your morning outdoors. Grab your cup of coffee and start your quiet morning with fresh air.
Make the most of this new season!
