Unleash your creativity with these bullet journal ideas!
Journaling has been such a fundamental and transformational way to keep track of the busy thoughts running through my mind day after day. I try to write in one journal per year, symbolizing a fresh journal for the new year and ending the same journal to conclude the year. It’s always a treasure to be able to look back and see how much you’ve gone and grown through. Reflecting on the obstacles you’ve overcome, the wins you’ve celebrated and the answered prayers. Bullet journaling (BUJO) is the same concept but with a little bit of a twist. In simple terms, I consider it, journaling with creativity. The main difference with bullet journaling is that instead of lines, the pages of a bullet journal consist of dots or bullets (hence the name). Bullet journaling allows you to keep track of and jot your thoughts down in a way that’s organized but aesthetic, while effectively tracking your moods, progress, thoughts and ideas.
Here are a few bullet journal ideas to maximize the habit of bullet journaling while tracking your progress for the year.
1. Trackers
Trackers are a huge component of bullet journaling. From habits to to-do lists, and mood trackers to reading logs. You can ultimately track whatever you find most important to assess your progress.
Tracking habits through bullet journaling is a fun yet effective way to see your progress while keeping you motivated. This can be done daily, weekly, or monthly! I create both a monthly and weekly tracker for the year at the start of my journal to access easily. Simply list out the habits you want to be consistent in and create a template to fill in your progress.
Weekly to-do lists are a must for me! There is really no better feeling than crossing an item off your list. When I have a million things on my mind, I need to get it all down on paper. One reason being- so I can remember all my outstanding tasks and chores but also so I can track my progress as I get them done.
As an avid reader, I love to keep track of all the books I read in a year. This helps me highlight any really good books I’ve read as well as track my progress to see if I hit my goal of reading 25 books for the year (we’re nearly there)!
2. Monthly Cover Pages
Monthly cover pages help you recognize and welcome a new month. Craft a cover page for the month based on the season, any holidays or what you have up and coming for the new month. With monthly cover pages, you wrap up the month that just passed and plan for the month ahead.
3. Monthly Reflections
Monthly reflections are another great way for you to sit and assess the current season of your life. Reflect on the highs and lows of your past month, celebrate your accomplishments, and carry forward any outstanding tasks or goals to the next month.
Bullet journaling is a powerful tool to ensure you are growing in your self-awareness while still allowing yourself to be creative and put your thoughts to paper. Express your thoughts while maintaining a clear and organized mind. BUJO allows you to reflect on your past, organize the present, and plan for the future.
